People are living longer than ever, and that’s good news. However, our teeth haven’t evolved to keep up with our longevity. Teeth are designed to last between 70 and 80 years with excellent oral hygiene and regular dental care such as crowns or fillings. However, most people will experience tooth loss from accidents, injuries, decay, or gum recession. The good news is that modern dentistry and Drs. Jennifer Wahlen and John Torghele can step in to fill the gap.Â
Dental implants consist of three components: a titanium implant body that is embedded directly into your jawbone, a small abutment that rests atop the implant body, and a porcelain crown that is placed to serve as your visible tooth. There are a few ways to restore your smile with dental implants:
If you have missing teeth, you’re already a candidate for dental implants. But before the dental implant process can start, our team will thoroughly examine and take X-rays of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. To place a dental implant, you must have sufficient bone mass in the jaw to support the implant. You’ll need a bone graft if you don’t have enough bone mass. The bone graft can take three to six months to heal. Also, if you have gum disease, this must be treated first.
Our dental experts describe “teeth in a day” as a revolutionary and reliable dental implant treatment designed to give their patients a permanent tooth replacement option in just one day. If you meet the criteria for dental implants, we will place two or four implants along the dental arch. Implant-supported dentures will give you same-day results.Â
The process can begin once it has been determined that you have sufficient bone mass in your jaw and no gum disease. If one or more teeth need to be extracted, we will extract them. Then, the titanium implants are placed in the jaw. These implants are topped with abutments and temporary full dentures, giving you immediate functionality and a full smile restoration. After the implants heal, you’ll receive your permanent denture.
