Dental restoration services, direct and indirect repairs

Many incidences can occur within the smile, causing damage to the teeth and gums. When this happens, visiting a restorative dental practice is a smart choice for repairing the smile’s appearance, function, and health. At Wahlen Dentistry in Perry, Utah, Drs. Jennifer Wahlen and John Torghele are here to assist with direct and indirect restorations.

What are the different types of restorations available at Wahlen Dentistry?

Our team is pleased to offer direct and indirect restorations to improve your smile. Let’s look at each and determine what type is best for your unique smile needs:

  • Direct dental restorations. Direct dental restorations restore the tooth immediately after the dental work is completed. One of the most common is a dental filling, which is used to address areas of tooth decay. The dentist removes the decayed area of the tooth, disinfects the inner areas, and then places a composite resin filling inside to seal the tooth and protect it from further damage. This also restores the tooth’s appearance and functionality
  •  Indirect dental restorations. Alternatively, we also offer indirect dental restorations. This might be a restoration placed over the tooth and takes more than one visit to complete. Common indirect dental restorations include porcelain veneers, dental crowns, inlays, and onlays. These are made using impressions of the patient’s prepared tooth and are completed in an outside dental laboratory. They are often made of porcelain or ceramic, materials that are not only durable and strong but also look natural and can be fabricated to match the size, shape, and color of the other teeth
